The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) is the central bank of South Africa, established in 1921 to maintain price stability and promote sustainable economic growth.
Today, SARB plays a vital role in managing the country’s monetary policy, ensuring a stable financial system, and guiding government with critical economic insights.

SARB bursaries are awarded for undergraduate degrees in fields linked to its functions and scarce skills in South Africa. Examples include:
- Accounting
- Actuarial Science
- Economics
- Finance
- Information Technology
- Law
- Mathematical Statistics
- Dentistry, Medicine & Social Work
- Other scarce skills areas
📋 Selection Process
- Bursaries are reviewed annually; you do not need to reapply each year.
- Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 1 month of the closing date.
- Testing and interviews may be part of the process.
- Bursary recipients must sign an agreement with SARB.
✅ Eligibility Requirements
- South African citizen under 30 years old.
- Completed Matric or currently in Matric (2025).
- Intend on studying full-time for an undergraduate degree in 2026.
- Accepted or provisionally accepted at a recognised SA university.
- Minimum 70% overall average in Matric June exams.
- Financial need and unable to study without a bursary.
- From a disadvantaged background.
