
The Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa (PSSA), through the Foundation for
Pharmaceutical Education (FPE), is offering bursaries for Pharmacy students in 2026.
These bursaries aim to support financially needy and academically strong students
pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate Pharmacy studies.
📌 About the Bursary Provider – PSSA
The PSSA was officially established in 1946, after the unification of various
pharmaceutical groups dating back to 1885. Today, it leads the pharmacy profession
in South Africa, striving to improve medicine use and patient care nationwide.
🎓 Fields Covered
Bursaries are awarded for Pharmacy-related studies:
- BPharm (2nd year onward)
- Masters in Pharmacy
- Doctoral studies in Pharmacy
💰 Expenses Covered
Bursaries are awarded for one academic year at a time, renewable on application.
Funding depends on financial need, academic performance, and other aid received.
✅ Eligibility Requirements
Undergraduate:
- South African citizen, completed Matric
- Full-time BPharm student in 2nd–4th year
- PSSA student member (free membership)
- Passed all modules, minimum 60% average
- Family income under R130 000 per year
Postgraduate:
- South African citizen, completed undergraduate degree
- Full-time Masters or Doctoral Pharmacy studies
- Registered at a recognised South African university
- PSSA student member (membership form required)

Undergraduate: Download and complete the
PSSA Bursary Application Form 2026, then submit with required documents.
Postgraduate: Applications open in March 2026.

- Certified ID copy
- Full academic transcript
- Motivational letter from a Pharmacy lecturer
- Financial declaration with proof of household income
