MQA Continuing Bursars 2026 Academic Year 🎓 — The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) invites current MQA-funded bursars to apply for the continuation of their bursary support for the 2026 academic year.

About the MQA Bursary Scheme

The MQA Bursary Scheme was established to increase the number of skilled professionals entering the mining and minerals sector. The scheme supports students studying at public universities, universities of technology, and TVET colleges across South Africa.

The Mining Qualifications Authority is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) for the Mining and Minerals Sector, established in terms of the Skills Development Act No. 97 of 1998.

What the Bursary Covers

The MQA bursary provides comprehensive financial support, which may include:

  • Full tuition and registration fees
  • Residence fees or private accommodation allowance
  • Books and study materials
  • Meals allowance
  • Semester allowance (where applicable)

Who May Apply

  • ONLY existing MQA-funded bursars
  • Students currently registered at a university, university of technology, or TVET college
  • Both employed and unemployed continuing bursars

Applications from first-time applicants will not be considered, as the 2026 first-time bursary application window is closed.
