About Royal Bafokeng Holdings
The Royal Bafokeng Holdings (RBH) is an African community-owned investment holding company whose sole shareholder is the Royal Bafokeng Nation Development Trust (RBNDT). RBH, together with the RBNDT have been entrusted with the unique responsibility of preserving and growing the financial capital of the Royal Bafokeng Nation (RBN), a progressive traditional community of 29 villages situated in the Rustenburg valley. RBH’s mandate is to protect and grow the wealth of the RBN and provide reliable and predictable inter-generational income.
It was under the leadership of Kgosi Mokgatle where the Bafokeng people pooled community resources to buy land. Using the missionaries that lived among them as proxies, they bought title deeds to the land they had been farming for over 400 years. The land was bought communally and owned accordingly. The tenacity and forward-thinking approach of the Bafokeng people was rewarded a few decades later when part of the Merensky Reef, containing the world’s largest deposit of platinum group minerals, was discovered on Bafokeng land.
Important Note: This is a new bursary opportunity that is separate from the first-year bursary opportunity advertised in December 2025. First-year students interested in becoming chartered accountants are still welcome to apply.
